Some of the photos above are from the Teamsters Angola Project Assembly held at Prosser Academy in Chicago on 2/26/08.The event was a great success. With the support and additional funding from the Teamsters the students have raised approximately $18,000.00 to date to help build a school in Africa

March 19, 2008-An overwelming majority of 726 members voted down the changes in the bylaws during the General Membership Meeting.Therefore the bylaws will remain the same.
A motion was passed at our General Membership Meeting to suspend the meetings for the months of June, July and August. Our next monthly membership meeting will be on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 6:30pm in the Lower Hall of 300 S. Ashland. All meetings will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. We hope to see everyone there!

The City agreed to make minimal changes in the contract, and the members were pleased. Voting took place on October 4,2007 and the results were 974 Yes to 159 No. The new agreement will benefit our union members by guaranteeing them a prevailing rate for 10-years and maintaining control of our healthcare costs. This contract, agreed to by the other 33 members unions that are part of the Coalition of Unionized Public Employees (COUPE) includes the following:
*Prevailing rate for 10 years
*Joint labor and management committee to have authority and control over healthcare
*Renew side letter which prohibits the City from subcontracting or privatizing work which causes layoffs to Teamsters
*MTD Pool Drivers guaranteed same benefits as probationary career service employees
*Expedited grievance and arbitration provisions
*Retroactivity, including retirees
*Payment of wages, more union involvement in payroll and payment issues
*All driving time will count toward your seniority

On August 28,2007 the Village of Glendale Heights Public Services ratified their contract with 45 yes and 0 no. Glendale Heights Building Maintenance ratified their contract with 8 yes and 0 no.
The Cook County Highway Department and Hospital ratified the contract unamiously

-Info Update FormMay 17, 2007- The IL Senate passed House Bill 426- legislation that changes the Primary Election date from the third Tuesday, in March to the first Tuesday in Feb. For the 2008 Primary Election date on February 5, the following schedule applies: The Candidates may begin petition circulation on August 7, 2007; Candidates may file petition with the State Board of Elections of the Local Election Authority between October 29 and November 5; Early voting will begin on January 14, 2008 and end on January 31, 2008.
