Local 786 President Mick Yauger is working with the Joint Council 25 Political Department to register Teamster members to vote. At the April 8th Delegates meeting it was reported that a voter registration training progra= m is being planned at Teamsters Local 786. We encourage all members of Local 726= of the opportunities to participate in this important program.

 

The November general electi= on is approaching and it is of great importance that we do all we can to get our members to vote. According to the most recent Joint Council 25 records, only 42% of members are registered to vote within the Joint Council. Motivating = our members to vote and actively participate will ensure that our elected offic= ials are held accountable to the working people we represent.

 

Currently Local 786 is work= ing with the Chicago Board of Elections to schedule a voter registration training meeting. Participants in the training would become deputy registrars with t= he Board of Elections. Members must be registered to vote in Cook County to be eligible for the Chicago Board of Election training. Also, Local 786 = must have at least 40 participants before an official date can be set.
